System Control

INFIMACS II System Control manages the overall system operation, provides for security definition and controls the interaction across different functional areas of the database. Furthermore, System Control provides the system manager with powerful capabilities to tailor INFIMACS II to your company’s unique environment.

System Control manages the integration of the INFIMACS II database. In addition to customizing the functions of the individual modules, System Control also provides opportunities to define interaction across modules, such as at what point credit checking takes place between Sales Order Management and Accounts Receivable (on receipt of order and/or at the time a packing slip is queued to print.)

INFIMACS II supports a four level security system. The first level of security is at the logon screen, where the user must enter a valid ID and password. For each ID/password combination, the system administrator then defines which module(s) may be accessed, which program(s) within an approved module may be accessed, and what data capabilities the user has within each program (e.g. add, change, delete, inquire). With these four levels of security, users are provided with the functionality they need without over-exposing sensitive system information or compromising data integrity. INFIMACS II System Control maintains a set of user-defined tables that identify the only acceptable entries for specific fields within the system. These tables are used to enhance field editing, and to assist the on-line user by allowing him to review the valid selections from the screen.

Other tables provide data flexibility between modules. For example, to facilitate the interaction of the Production Engineering, Purchasing Control, and Inventory Control modules, INFIMACS II can accommodate a different unit of measure for a given item in each of these functional areas. Conversion factors between these different units of measure are defined in System Control.

Additional pieces of information that impact the entire system, such as company divisions, company defaults, applications installed, and the shop calendar (days of the year your company will be open for business), are entered and maintained in the System Control module. The data dictionary is also maintained here. INFIMACS II provides the definitions used during on-line help requests, and these can each be augmented with additional information that pertains specifically to your installation.

INFIMACS II System Control allows you to tailor the manufacturing and financial control system to the needs of your company. It supports phased implementation of the modular INFIMACS II system, ensuring that the installation can be properly managed while minimally impacting the ongoing operations of your company.

System Control also provides the connectivity tools and application language required for the operation of the INFIMACS II software. These may vary from system to system and may change over time, depending on the platform you have selected and the changing requirements of the INFIMACS II system.
